A massive number of women worldwide experience a fundamental lack of access to, and awareness of, essential Shari’ah Knowledge. This gap leads to a cascade of challenges:
Women often face difficulties in consistently tracking their menstrual cycles due to the demands of daily life, such as work and family responsibilities, in a challenging environment.
This lack of accurate record-keeping leads to confusion and potential misapplication of religious duties, particularly during critical periods such as Ramadan and in daily Salah practices.
The deficit in knowledge and understanding extends beyond individual women, affecting their ability to guide their children and future generations, perpetuating a cycle of limited awareness and incorrect practices.
The issue is exacerbated by the fact that often times, unqualified individuals are being consulted for religious guidance. Their advice, often not subject to public or peer scrutiny, can continue unchecked, leading to persistent misguidance. Next, even if the right experts are found, the turnover for replies can be many weeks as they tend to be inundated with a backlog of many other questions. Our sister's in Islam have a need to know in a few hours time if they are to fast or not, or if they are required to skip their prayers. While courses are available, life itself is filled with many challenges that pose a barrier for women to actively seek out that knowledge
This results in widespread incorrect religious practices, increased confusion, and a lack of accountability, leading to an even greater dearth of proper knowledge and understanding.
When considering that these issues affect hundreds of millions of women globally, the scale of the problem becomes immense. It transcends individual and communal boundaries, becoming a matter of Fard-e-Kifayah, a collective obligation in our religion to ensure that essential religious knowledge and guidance are adequately provided and accessible to all.
